The Bristol Channel Project was a study of the British Channel and Severn Estuary. It was coordinated by the NERC Institute for Marine Environmental Research (now Plymouth Marine Laboratory).
Fieldwork was carried out between 1970 and 1983 with over 100 cruises taking place. A range of measurements were taken such as temperature, salinity, chlorophyll, dissolved organic carbon, suspended matter, nutrients and plankton.
The data set was selected for restoration and archival at BODC as part of the NERC SEEDCORN (Stewardship and Exploitation of Environmental Data) programme.
The Bristol Channel Project data set is available on CDROM and comes with a comprehensive users' guide and interface software (BODC's Database Explorer).
