General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans (GEBCO)
GEBCO's aim
is to provide the most authoritative, publicly-available
bathymetry for the world's oceans. It operates under the joint auspices of the Intergovernmental
Oceanographic Commission (IOC) and the International Hydrographic Organization
(IHO).
Originally published in chart form, GEBCO is now maintained at BODC in
the form of a digital atlas. The Centenary Edition of the GEBCO
Digital Atlas (GDA) is its third release and is a substantial revision
of the earlier issues from 1994 and 1997.
The GDA consists of a global set of digital bathymetric contours; coastlines, trackline control information and a global one arc-minute bathymetric grid — the GEBCO One Minute Grid. The complete GDA is distributed on CDROM. The GEBCO One Minute Grid is also available from our web site.
